Let’s give affirmations a Glow Up shall we?
Do affirmations feel a little awkward and obligatory?
Try this instead!
Does saying affirmations in the mirror feel super awkward? I feel you! I always thought “Why am I the only one not into this?”
After swearing off affirmations as not for me, I heard that Snoop Dogg had a Youtube channel called DoggyLand which teaches social-emotional learning to kids. He has a couple of videos on affirmations. Snoop Dogg literally changed the game when it comes to affirmations for me. Here’s how…
Where my elementary teachers at?? We know all too well that young children, especially, need to be having fun while learning routines otherwise they’ll be running around or bothering someone else. So what magic trick do we pull out of our teacher magician hats??
We sing our directions.
Soon even the kids who need to most redirection are singing along and falling in line with the rest of the class. Not only do songs make it fun, but they remember what they’re supposed to do 10X more than if we were just to tell them. I may, or may not, have the songs stuck in my head while trying to fall asleep. That’s when you know your little magic trick is working. This is crucial when trying to manifest. You want to change your mindset/beliefs about what you want, in the least resistant way, so you can attract it.
2 ways to do this:
- You can create your own song OR
- You can take lyrics from a song you already love.
One of my favorite songs to sing is:
“I am” by Baby Tate Feat. Flo Milli.
“I am healthy, I am wealthy
I am rich, I am that bitch
I am gonna go get that bag
And I am not gonna take your shit
I am protected, well respected
I’m a queen, I’m a dream
I do what I wanna do
And I’m who I wanna be
’Cause I am me”
I also really like this oldie but goodie:
“Feelin so Good” by JLO
“When I opened up my eyes today
Felt the sun shining on my face
It became so clear to me that everything is going my way
I feel like there’s no limit to what I can see
Got rid of fears that were holding me
My endless possibility has the whole world opened for me”
There are so many great songs with positive affirmation lyrics out there. Find one that really resonates with you. Or if you really like Snoop Dogg’s affirmations do those! I may, or may not, join in with my students when they are singing and dancing to Doggyland.
The cherry on top affirmation hack: Make singing your affirmations into a daily routine. Take something you do everyday. It could be a hygiene habit like washing your hands or your drive to work. Sing your affirmations while doing your daily routine. Doing it 2-3 times a day, everyday not only will start to re-wire your limiting beliefs BUT you feel good doing it!! And feeling good makes the journey to manifesting your dreams that much more delicious. And don’t be surprised if your body starts moving to the beat too.
So try this tip out and let me know if it feels better for you!
